"Many wolves, one pack!"
Band Philosophy

The purpose of the Chandler High School Band Program is to provide a musical, learning environment in which students can gain unity and teamwork through performance and entertainment.

Our goals are to provide quality performing bands to our community and to promote pride in our school. We do this through the hard work and dedication of the students, parents, administration, and band staff.
Mrs. Sarah Arrott
Meet the Director of Bands
Mrs. Sarah Arrott graduated from BYU-Idaho in 2016 with a degree in Music Education. She is excited to be at Chandler High School as the Director of Bands. She previously was the Associate Director of Bands. Prior to joining Chandler High School, she worked in Bullhead City, AZ as a Junior High music teacher.

Mrs. Arrott believes that every student that comes into the classroom deserves a safe place to learn, grow, and become the best musician they can be. She is committed to doing everything in her power to help each individual student reach their highest potential.

Ensembles
The Marching Band is a service organization to the students, school, and community. Typically, the students perform at home and away games on Friday nights and compete in local, state, and out-of-state competitions on Saturdays. Practices are held two to three times a week after school and occasionally on Saturdays to prepare the students for these activities. Students also perform/march at parades and assemblies throughout the fall semester. The fall semester for marching band students can be hectic. It may challenge your student’s organizational and planning abilities, but it is well worth it for the friendships, band experience, and musical education/growth!

symphonic band
This advanced musical ensemble is a group of select musicians, usually juniors and seniors. Lower classmen may participate by invite or audition from the band director. Students wear provided tuxes and dresses. Any black dress shoe can be worn and the tuxedo shirt must be purchased through the Band Boosters. Students study the music and transcriptions of the masters along with fine marches, pop selections and contemporary literature. Symphonic Band performs in concerts, at music festivals throughout Arizona and may tour in the spring. One requirement of Symphonic Band is auditioning for Regionals in the spring semester.
jazz band 1&2
Jazz Band allows students to study and perform the “Big Bands” music from the 1920s to the present. The emphasis in this group is to serve the different styles of music (swing, rock, blues, popular) with understanding. Students also learn to improvise their own solos with good technique and understanding.

BandBoosters
The Chandler Band Booster Club is an organization of volunteer band parents whose primary goal is to support the Chandler High School Band Program. If you are a band parent, you are a club member. The Booster Club has an Executive Board to serve as the leadership for this well-managed organization. The Chandler Band Boosters provide support services and financial assistance to help maintain and improve Chandler’s excellent concert and marching band programs.
The Band Boosters assist the band program in many ways, including rehearsal supervision, concert set-up, festivals, parades, equipment repair, prop production, sewing, food service, and travel.

We need active members who desire and are willing to assist in all of these activities for our student's benefit. Please consider volunteering your time to enhance our program. Please get in touch with Booster Club President for more volunteer information.

Donations
There are many ways you can donate to the band.

Bottled Water Donations / Sponsor - We are always taking bottled water donations. Drop them off at the Band Room - anytime on a school day.
Meal Donations / Sponsor - One of the biggest expenses for the Chandler High Band program is feeding the students before all home and away games, before all competitions, and during their music camps. Your donation to our “The Wolves are Hungry” program directly helps our hard-working students have an important meal served during these events. While many kids are still sleeping in and chilling out this summer, CHS Marching Band kids will be on the practice field, spending hours in the sun learning both the show music and the formations of the marching drill. Once school starts, they will keep practicing in the evenings after school and even on some Saturdays! They keep this up through October when everything comes together for their competitions, where they compete against some of the state's best high school marching bands. Putting on a competitive marching band show is expensive. The boosters strive to raise a minimum of $50,000. The cost of instructors, equipment, uniforms, props, and travel adds up to thousands of dollars each year for our band, but they also gain things that money can’t buy. They learn discipline, self-control, teamwork, how hard work pays off, and what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves. Contributing to the CHS Band Program will help us offer an amazing experience to all students regardless of their financial situation.
